Filming Locaions

To get all the shots and scenes I want, I will need several different locations. I have made a montage of all the different places to film.

Picture 1 is the mountain that the performance aspect of the film will be. I want this because it can easily be told apart from the narrative sections of the music video. being on a mountain might cause problems as it take and hour and a half to get to the filming location. Mountains also have the potential to get quite windy and blow over equipment but also add effect to the performance of the video.

Pictures 2 show the location of the building that overlooks the park. This is a good place because the building has apartments making it easy to access and overlook the park. It gives a good location for the scene I want to film here. The building also looks like a generic town building adding to the urban effect.

Pictures 3 are the for the scene where tracking device will be used. These location are good because they a local and I can get to them to film at anytime and have good lighting from street and interior lights.

Picture 4 is of the cola machine are for the poison scene where a drink will be poisoned and drank. This is a good place as it is local and i have permission from the owner that I can use it if there are few customers in the shop.

Picture 5 is the road I plan to use for the street scene. This is good because it is local and there are paths on both sides of the road that I can use. There are outside sources that can interfere with my filming and may make it take longer to the footage correct to the way I want it.

Picture 6 is where the first and last scene with the thrown projectile will be used. This location will be sufficient as it has a post that something can be stuck to and is a large open area that can easily have shots from many angles used for it.

Props and Equipment

Binoculars
I have been able to find some old binoculars that i can use. i chose these out of the others I could choose because they are big, bulky and create a more dramatic impression on camera. It shows the user as more of a professional who knows what they are doing and is well prepared.

Rope and Chair
I found some light green fibre rope and a folding chair that I can use. This gives somewhere for the man to be tied to once the stalker has captured him.

Poison for Drink
For the poison, I got a bottle of blue die and stick a printed a toxic label onto the bottle. For the drink I can buy any bottle drink from a shop on the day I film. This is good because it looks real because of the sticker I made for it. I wanted the poisen to look as realistic and noticable as posible for the viewers of the video so i used blue as opposed to red or any other colour that I had avalible to me.

Tracking Device
For the tracking device I wanted, I decided to get an old broken iPhone. I took off the screen and took out the components on the inside of it. I then made my own circuit to go on the inside so that and LED would flash when the button its pressed. I couldn't get a power source strong enough that was small enough to fit on the inside of the case, so I got battery cables that go to a 9v battery on the outside that can be hidden with the holders hand in the scene. For this I wanted it to make something that look professional but did exactly what I wanted it to do whet it was used.

Throwing Knife
I will need a throwing knife or some kind of projectile weapon that can be used. It looks professional and as it is plastic it can be throw without fear of killing someone or causing injury.

These are all the props and equipment I will need to take with me to film when i go to film (not including the chair which is a bit big to fit into the frame).

Initial Ideas (Part 2)

For my initial ideas I wrote all my ideas on what I could do and exactly how I could accomplish that.

These pages go more into depth of what will happen in the music video

Initial Ideas (Part 1)

For my initial ideas I looked at numerous different songs and ideas I could do for them. Some of the songs I looked at when trying to find a good song for my music video were “B is for Brutus” by The Hives and “Love Don’t Let Me Go” by David Guetta. After much thought and consideration I decided to use “Club Foot” by Kasabian from their album called Discover.

I knew straight away I wanted some kind of narrative sequence in a music video mixed with some performance. My first idea related to lyrics in the song that said “messing with my mind”, “chase, down an empty street” and “the blood ain’t on my face”. My first plan was to have some kind of bicycle video which used a camera mounted onto a bike and having events from that. I dismissed it because I didn’t think it had enough relation to the message portrayed in the song.

I chose to make a music video that related to the lyrics that came up most it the song like, “I tell you I want you, I’ll tell you I need you” and “just wanted you near me”. The rough idea of the music video will be a counter typical view of a girl watching a boy and will be exaggerated and amplified as much as possible by making it almost seem as if one is stalking the other.

In the way of mise en scene, I have thought about everything I wanted to do and what I would need to do that. The props I will need to create the scenes and shots I want to get are; binoculars, a tracking device, a bottled drink, a rope, fake poison, a chair and a small knife-like weapon.

The settings I need vary quite a bit so that people watching can easily tell the difference between the performances that will fragment the narrative part of the video. I will need to find a couple of roads in an urban town to film most of it. But will also need a hill/mountain that overlooks a valley for parts of the performance.

In the music video the artist will be portrayed as more of a victim and shown to be innocent and unknowing. The artist could also be seen as quite popular and idolized because he is being watched and followed.
